Wal-Mart to set up footwear logistics center at Quangang

Largest retailer in the world, Wal-Mart unleashed investment plan worth 100 million Yuan to set up footwear logistics center at Quangang district of Quanzhou City, situated in eastern China's Fujian province.
The center will be co-constructed by both C&J Corporation - Taiwan and Quanzhou Baofeng Light Industry Co Ltd.
The investment will be in phase manner, first phase of the project is to construct building of a 15,000 square meter, which will intake investment of twenty million Yuan. After the completion of construction the capacity will be increase to 30 million pairs per year.
Currently Wal-Mart has to send all the purchased shoes from Fujian to its Shanghai logistics center for repacking, either for direct export or for local sales.
After establishing new logistic center, it will pack the shoes and export them directly, which will save by 10 percent of current logistics costs and will shorten the turnover period.
Setting up logistic center in Quanzhou depicts that footwear makers have become an ever more important for Wal-Mart supply chain.
