Professionals of the Finnish shoe and bag industry gather at the Helsinki Fair Centre starting from this Saturday to check the latest trends for autumn and winter 2006/2007. A record number of Finnish manufacturers are participating this year.

This year the event is organised for the fifth time on its own at the Helsinki Fair Centre. It gathers 64 exhibitors from seven different countries: Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Russia, Germany, and Switzerland.

”The presence of major Finnish manufacturers will no doubt have a positive effect on the industry in Finland”, states Sales Manager Minna Haavisto from the Finnish Fair Corporation. “Also the fact that this year several Swedish companies are exhibiting on their own instead of using agents brings added value to the event and its visitors”, continues Haavisto.

Visitors of this event are professionals: entrepreneurs, wholesalers, buyers, and retailers. This fair is an excellent place to compare, make contacts and deals. Visitors come to the fair to see the new trends in the field from fashion shows and collections on display.

Finnish Shoe industry well Presented
This fair is important for the whole industry. The Association of Finnish Shoe and Leather Industries represents companies that manufacture shoes and produce leather as raw material for the Finnish shoe and clothing industry.

”These industries employ 1600 people, thus producing 1600 valuable work places in Finland”, comments Sari Vannela, the Executive Director of the Association of Finnish Shoe and Leather Industries. “Our national features and demanding climate set demands that only the special know-how of our industry can provide – We should be proud of the Finnish quality”, reminds Vannela. The Association of Finnish Shoe and Leather Industries has promoted the Finnish shoe industry with visible campaigns with the theme “Domestic shoes take you home”.
