GT Nexus announced an agreement with Cementhai Chemicals Co. Ltd (CCC)., to provide integrated electronic shipment transaction services through the company's industry-backed, multi-carrier transaction platform for seafreight management. Cementhai Chemicals is wholly-owned by The Siam Cement Public Company Ltd., Thailand's largest industrial conglomerate with leading market positions in each of its core businesses of cement, petrochemicals, and paper and packaging.
The project calls for CCC to integrate with the GT Nexus industry portal to take advantage of industry-standard shipment automation technology, utilizing the platform as the integration “hub” for connectivity to multiple ocean carriers, and for electronic processing of cargo information with those carriers worldwide.
“This is a strategic business initiative for CCC,” said Somchai Wattanataweekul, Supply Chain Manager at CCC. “The portal connects us to many ocean carriers, and allows us to replace manual work with standard, electronic transactions. We improve the speed and accuracy of data we send to carriers, and reduce the costs to manage it. That creates benefits for both of us.”
The first transaction set, which goes into production shortly, will enable CCC to send electronic “bookings,” or reservations for cargo space, to ocean carriers, and to receive booking confirmations from carriers. The integration will use an XML standard for electronic data interchange between CCC and the GT Nexus platform.
