Spring menswear at Pendleton Woolen Mills

Take it easy seems to be the key phrase in Pendleton menswear this spring. For guys, ease starts with a comfortable cut. Pendleton shirts can be tucked in or left out as a "keep it comfortable" statement. Ease of care is another consideration. Washable silks, easy-care cotton blends, even washable wools are prevalent in the company's spring line.

"Maybe because the world around us is fast-paced and a little complicated right now, we're looking for simplicity in our everyday lives," says Jim Buckner, Pendleton Menswear division manager. "Our spring line is the essence of ease, in reality and ambiance."

Retro inspiration abounds in Pendleton spring shirts, no surprise in a company with such an historic background. A floral print reminiscent of the silk curtains in a 1940's bungalow looks both classic and fresh. Vintage airplanes land on a couple of shirts including an island-vacation themed silk. A penchant for the halcyon days gone by extends to sportsman themed shirts with fishing lures, guide maps and single engine planes.

Surf, skate or snow -- boards are big among all age groups, and Pendleton predicts their new Board Shirt will take its place among the in-crowd in much the way their classic wool shirt was made famous by the California surf rock of the Beach Boys in the 60s. The shirt comes in six retro-inspired plaids retrieved from the Pendleton archives. It's crafted from perennially popular Umatilla wool, still woven in the company's northwest mills. The fabric is lightweight, hardworking and machine washable, so boarders can dive right in whatever their sport.
