Pendleton Mill pre-launch 'Grateful Nation' Veterans Service

Pendleton announces the Veteran's Day pre-launch of its latest wool blanket, woven in recognition of the selfless sacrifice by the many men and women who have defended our country's freedom throughout history.
Grateful Nation is a jacquard blanket woven with colored stripes representing authentic service ribbons awarded to veterans of the historical conflicts in which our country engaged. It will pre-launch in the Pacific Northwest and at the Veteran's Day celebration in Branson, Missouri, on Veteran's Day. A nationwide launch is slated for spring 2006.
The blanket is striped chronologically with the following service ribbons:
- World War II Asiatic/Pacific Campaign
- World War II Europe/Africa/Middle East Campaign
- Korean Service
- Vietnam Service
- Southwest Asia Service (Gulf War)
- War on Terrorism
Centered on one side of the blanket is a representation of the stars and stripes of the American flag, interpreted as a campaign ribbon. The reverse side is a dramatic overall, abstract interpretation of Old Glory in red, white and blue.
"We hope this unique blanket will serve as an inspiration for a young soldier, a tribute to veterans of all ages, and a symbol of American national pride," says Robert Christnacht, manager of Pendleton's Blankets and Home division, who developed the blanket for the company. "The sacrifices of the people who have served in the armed services too often go unnoticed or are easily forgotten. This blanket was designed as a legacy to them and a daily reminder of the people who have helped maintain our country's freedom."
Pendleton Woolen Mills is a privately held company that owns and operates two woolen mills in the Pacific Northwest, both of which manufacture Pendleton apparel and home products.
