Robin Bruce designs Hollywood Glam collection for fall '06

Robin Bruce's Hollywood Glam collection reminded consumers of the sophisticated elegance of design in the 1930s and 1940s. A closer look at this period brings us to "streamlined design" which emerged in the 1930s as a purely American interpretation of the European Art Deco movement.

Robin Bruce's current introduction of sofas and accent chairs, coupled with a decorator's approach to 35 new fabric combinations, shines the spotlight on streamlined design. The new introductions include:

- Pollock sofa and loveseat
- Michel sofa, loveseat, sofa bed and chair/ottoman
- Max accent chair/ottoman
- Rothko accent chair

What is streamlined design?
As the lesser-known design influence of the 20th century, streamlined design emerged from the popularity of Art Deco to influence a broad range of American manufacturers/industries including mass transportation [ships, trains, airplanes], personal transportation [cars], kitchen appliances, office equipment and home décor.

"The focus for Robin Bruce is to interpret the origins of 19th and 20th century décor and translate it easily for today's aesthetic," explains Andrea Banda, Design Director for Rowe Furniture, the manufacturer of Robin Bruce. "For the Fall 2006 collection, we've introduced a truly American approach to modern design in two new sofas and two new accent chairs with textiles which evoke the period but are new for the season."
