Textile companies provide fabrics and garments to consumers but some also see a social responsibility to conserve and protect the environment.
Haojey Co. is one such company. "We want to save the earth, so we decided to produce ecosensor fibers starting this year, although these the price of these fibers is about three times higher than similar fibers," said Louis Chen, CEO and chairman of Haojey.
Ecosensor is a new fiber introduced by Japanese Asahi Kasei Fibers as its commitment to conserving natural resources and reducing environmental burdens through chemical recycling technology.
Presently, Haojey is capable of turning out approximately 5,380 tons of DTY fibers and 5,400 tons of SCY fibers per annum. The firm's high-tech performance fibers are now being sold domestically and are also exported to Hong Kong, Japan, China, Vietnam as well as Europe and the Americas.
Starting in 2005, Haojey added fabrics to its line, using its own yarns. "Producing fabrics lets us contact downstream customers directly and allows us to follow market trends," said Chen.
In order to reduce production costs and investment, Haojey outsources fabric production. Haojey pays great attention to R&D. Chen said there are 12 research engineers in the R&D department, with the R&D budget taking about 2.5 percent of the firm's turnover in the past two years. "I promise that the R&D budget will be raised every year," said Chen.
Haojey has also launchedan advanced computerized management system. Chen said his company was the first to systemize its management 20 years ago, and then computerize.
