In a bid to capitalize on markets of surfactants and specialty chemicals for textiles, UK's Croda International Plc has taken over Uniqema worldwide on September 1 from ICI plc.
Croda provides many industries with specialty emulsifiers, esters and lanolin derivates but in India it is counting on textile chemicals and also polymers through Uniqema.
President of chemicals-Asia Pacific of Croda International and Uniqema CEO, David Barraclough along with other officers went to Thane unit of Uniqema and expressed their interest in textiles.
With consent from Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) still pending, Croda is waiting for the land in Thane to be transferred in its interest.
Croda's subsidiary, Croda Chemicals (India) Pvt Ltd, has inked a deal with 51 percent subsidiary of ICI plc, ICI India Ltd.
Executive Director of ICI India, M R Rajaram has informed that India's deal will be completed after transfer of the land. All formalities have been completed and the project will be approved in few weeks.
