Carpet firm to buy Springs' decorative textiles unit

Springs Industries Inc and C.S. Brooks World Carpets Inc announced an agreement under which Springs Industries has sold Springs Decorative Floor Inc, its area and accent rugs business, to CSB World. As part of the agreement, CSB World receives a license to use the Springmaid, Wamsutta and Regal brand names for marketing purposes.
"We are pleased to position our decorative floor business for future growth with CSB World," said Crandall Bowles, chairman of Springs Industries.
"We believe this will be a positive development, for our employees as well as our customers. Extending these brand names in accent and area rugs will continue to add value for retail customers, and we expect to work closely with CSB World on specific marketing initiatives for certain customers."
Brook Johnson, founder and chief executive officer of CSB World Carpets and a veteran of the home furnishings and carpet industries, stated he was "very pleased to have this opportunity to work with Springs Industries and the current management and employees of Decorative Floor Inc to continue to help build on the successes they have demonstrated in the accent and area rug markets."
Tina Gunter, newly named president of CSB World, has many years of experience working with Decorative Floor and Beaulieu Industries. Gunter will continue her current responsibilities for design, sales and marketing.
David Wingate, newly named executive vice president of CSB World, will be responsible for operational and financial matters, areas in which he has considerable knowledge within the division.
