Kashmir Handicrafts to hold exhibition for enhancing exports

In the financial year 2005, exports of Kashmir Handicrafts reached Rs705 crores. Handicrafts organization is going to hold an exhibition in the International Trade Fair at New Delhi starting from November 14, 2006 to enhance exports further.
This was announced at a review meeting of Industries, SICOP, SIDCO and Handicrafts with Dr Romesh Chander Sharma, Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, PHE and Irrigation as chief guest. Sources said at the meeting that International Trade Fairs organized at Dubai, US and UK had showcased small scale industrial products.
Sharma highlighted the need for displaying Jammu-Kashmir's industrial products in other states for motivating local businessmen. He added that entrepreneurs setting up facilities in remote areas of Kashmir will be given ten percent additional benefits by Government.
He also directed concerning officers to examine Rajouri, Poonch and Doda areas for finding probabilities to open industrial units. This will be a boon for Kashmir's jobless youth.
