Hosiery giant Renfro Corp. has decided to shut down its Fort Payne Charleston, Alabama, production plant by February, leaving workforce of 174 jobless.
However, company sources said that most of these workers will be placed at other Renfro factories.
Authorities explained that the equipments in the facility will be transferred and utilized at other mills, which will be beneficial.
David Green, Human Resources Vice President, Renfro, stressed, “We are going to offer them openings that we will post in the facility beginning this week. We have about a fourth of those jobs open immediately. We're going to be able to transfer some of these people over immediately. There are going to be more than enough openings for people who will be looking for jobs.”
