Uganda provides safe business environment for Indian investors

The Indian community has played a pivotal role in the development of Uganda and has contributed to the growth of Ugandan economy and Uganda is ready to provide all facilities and a secured business environment to the Indian investors, said Mr. Ruhakana Rugunda, Minister of Internal Affairs, Uganda at a meeting with Ugandan delegation organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Mr. Rugunda is on a goodwill mission to India with a delegation comprising representatives from government, industry and people of Indian origin. He will also visit the family of Deval Rawal in Gujarat, a 24-year-old Indian in Uganda who was killed in an unfortunate incident of violence. The Minister has reassured the Indian business community to provide a safe business environment in Uganda.

He emphasised on the requirement of development of energy sector in Uganda for the development of infrastructure and invited Indian companies to invest and set up hydro-electric power plants in the country.

Indians should take advantage of the business need of Uganda and invest in infrastructure and service industry also, he mentioned. Uganda Investment Authority is the one-stop-window for all the investment and business needs in Uganda and investors can get their administrative and legal documents processed within the stipulated time through the authority without any hassel, he assured.

Ugandans of Indian origin have also become part of the political and legislative process of the country. Uganda can provide access to North and North Eastern African countries like Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Congo, the minister mentioned.
