RMMTL forays in apparel & garments sector

R. M. Mohite Textiles Ltd (RMMTL), a listed company, belongs to Mr. Dilip Mohite & Mr. Shivaji Mohite, a well known Kolhapur-based Class-I civil and engineering contractors, specialized in construction of earthen dams. The Company currently engaged in spinning as well as weaving segments of the textile value chain.
Cotton yarn segment commands a premium for its products largely owning to the high quality standard that is maintained through diligent purchase of raw material to ensure consistency in the quality. The Company has installed capacity of about 35000 spindles, 22 twisting machines and 21 knitting machines.
The Company has a presence in the weaving segment with around 74 looms already installed and 120 looms proposed to be installed in immediate future, which specialize in manufacturing wider width cotton fabric up to 140 inches and in the 300 TC to 500 TC.
This division has 'Sulzer-projectile-wider-width' looms, which are most versatile machines capable of weaving across a range of fibers and counts in an economic manner. The Company is considering enhancing the existing capacity by another 60 shuttle-less looms so as to make the total weaving capacity to 254 looms. 'Bombay Dyeing' has entered into a 'buy-back' agreement for the entire production of these looms for next five years' period.
Power cost being quite critical to become cost-competitive, the Company is setting up 10MW Hydro Power Project at Radhanagari Dam, (Kolhapur District), which is likely to be completed by end of May 2007. This project is expected to generate 30 million of units per annum to be consumed fully for the textile manufacturing activity of the Company.
