AQUAFIL to strengthen Polyamide 6 & 66 textile yarn quality leadership

Aquafil S.p.a. has signed purchase orders in excess of 30 Mil € (40 Mil US$) with Barmag, Autefa and other primary European machinery and equipment suppliers. The investment will allow the Company to expand its quality leading POY and FDY capacity by an additional 10,000 tons/year (22 Mil. Pounds) to the current capacity of 16,000 tons/year (36 Mil. Pounds) at its Lubiana (Slovenia) manufacturing facility.

The Lubiana site of the Aquafil Group (Julon d.d.) is an integrated manufacturing facility. In addition to its significant textile yarn and relevant texturing operation, the facility also manufactures 35,000 tons (78 Mil. Pounds) of Nylon Polymer and 15,000 tons (33 Mil. Pounds) of Nylon BCF yarn for the carpet market.

The approved investment plan, which has already entered its implementation phase, provides not only for the new spinning lines, but also for a completely new automated bobbin handling and packing system (integrating both the new and existing spinning lines), as well as, a new warping plant. The new warping plant, needed to support the expanded capacity of warp-knitting and weaving yarns, will continue the company's sales growth into these critical markets.

Aquafil Managing Director, Dr. Giulio Bonazzi, explained how the Arco di Trento (Italy) based company, after having fully repositioned its textile yarn manufacturing operations in Slovenia and Croatia and restructured its organization, has been focused in achieving and maintaining the extremely high quality standards which the leading European Textile Companies are more and more in need of, for their continued success.
