For centuries, Indian consumers have relied on local Mom and Pop shops for their groceries and other household products. But India's retail landscape is changing with the opening up of the Indian market and the entry of multinational retailers and big Indian corporations to the FMCG retail market. The organized retail sector has become a more and more powerful entity in the country and it will soon lay down the rules for future retailing.

To explore India's changing retail landscape, The Nielsen Company will host a seminar titled “Defining Moments of India's Retail Trade” on Friday, 14th September, 2007 in Mumbai, where retail experts from India and overseas will gather to review best practice retailing from other parts of the world.

Addressing the conference will be two renowned Retail experts from The Nielsen Company – Jean Jacques Vandenheede, Senior Retail Analyst from Nielsen Europe, and Peter Gale, Managing Director, Retailer Services, Nielsen Asia Pacific. Both Vandenheede and Gale will share key insights based on their international experience and knowledge about what drives a successful retail chain.

A well-known Retail professional, K Radhakrishnan, Chief Executive Officer, Hypermarkets, Reliance Retail, India and Rajshree Dave, Nielsen India's specialist in Organized Retail Trade will also speak at the conference.

Both globally and in India, The Nielsen Company helps clients with their consumer insights and in-depth analysis from the findings. Nielsen is the sole source of retail audit information in India and covers over 124 fast moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals and other products.

The Nielsen Retail Store Audit in India is a currency in itself. It covers all retail outlets and continuously monitors a panel spread across 367 cities and 983 villages throughout India. Indian marketing companies across industries and sectors depend on Nielsen's retail data and analysis.
