DOGIEFA, a joint venture in which the DOGI group and MAS Holdings each hold a 50% stake, officially opened its production plant in Sri Lanka.

The Spanish multinational, which started up production at the plant on 15th October, is now the first company in the world to locate in the Asian Apparel & Fabric Technology Park.

This park, from onwards renamed MAS Fabrics Park, sets out to be the cluster specialising in underwear, swimwear and sportswear for the Indian subcontinent.

The opening ceremony brought the head of the national government, Mahinda Rajapakse, to Thulhiriya – 60 kilometres from the capital, Colombo – to officially open the plant.

Rajapakse praised DOGI's move to Sri Lanka, stressing that “This will encourage the competitiveness of local industry. The opening of the industrial park adds value to our country, positioning it as one of the leading centres in the underwear market.”

Karel Schröder, CEO of this Spanish multinational company, emphasised that “We are honoured and delighted to be the first business to be installed in MAS Fabric park.

Our joint venture partnership with MAS Holdings, which is known as one of the largest intimate apparel manufacturers on the Indian subcontinent, consolidates our presence in Asia, reinforces our global capacity and also enhances our ability to satisfy the needs of the greatest brands on the world market.”

For his part, the chairman of MAS Holdings, Mahesh Amalean, described the alliance with DOGI as a strategic one, as it “helps to reinforce our global solutions centre, from the textile to the final garment, as well as our relationship with the big brands on the underwear, swimwear and sportswear markets.”
