Nilit, a global manufacturer and leader in the production of nylon 6.6 for the intimate apparel, legwear, swim, and activewear markets, provides yarns that are certified by the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 to be free from harmful levels of more than 100 substances. The independent and verifiable certification assures Nilit's customers that they can have confidence in Nilit's yarns.
“Since our yarns are used in close-to-the-body garments, we have always been very sensitive to ensuring that our products do not contain any chemicals that could be potentially harmful to the end wearer,” says Molly Kremidas, Nilit's U.S. Marketing Director. “We believe it's our responsibility to provide that reliable assurance to our customers.”
Nilit selected Oeko-Tex, the independent global eco-label, to provide that guarantee. The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certification is a voluntary testing and certification system for textile fibers, yarns, fabrics, and manufactured products of all kinds. The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 test criteria include banned or regulated substances and chemicals that are known to be harmful to human health.
The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is updated constantly to remain more stringent than governmental standards and to stay abreast of changes in textile processing chemistry. To verify that certification standards are maintained, test samples are routinely pulled from retail and tested for compliance.
“The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification provides a comprehensive, independent, and verifiable guarantee that textiles are safe for human use,” states Manfred Wentz, U.S. director for Oeko-Tex.
