1st Chinese airbag yarn production started in Henan

Polyamide High Performance (PHP) is proud to announce that the grand opening ceremony of ShenMa-PHP (Pingdingshan) Air Bag Yarn Manufacturing Co Ltd, in Pingdingshan, China, has taken place.
The first PA 6.6 airbag yarns produced in China based on German –more precisely PHP – know-how and technology are available and customers can get material for approvals in the next months.
Following the cornerstone ceremony in August 2006 a complete new production plant has been built up within a year to follow the rapidly increasing Chinese and Asian demand for airbag restraint systems and therefore for airbag yarns.
In this first step a capacity of 3000 t/year Enka Nylon has been erected and preparation is done for a second step of further 3000 t/year which is expected to be started up in 2009.
The new plant in Pingdingshan takes advantage from China SHENMA's local production abilities, its integrated raw material pipeline and complete infra-structure located in Pingdingshan, China, as well as from PHP's longtime ex-perience in development, production and marketing of high-performance PA 6.6 airbag yarns – Enka Nylon – and its related patents.
The Chinese Enka Nylon airbag yarn production will be marketed exclu-sively by PHP-ShenMa Air Bag Yarn Marketing (Shanghai) Co Ltd, in China and all other Asian countries. These guarantees a seamless integra-tion of PHP's worldwide types and marketing concept for Enka Nylon airbag yarns.
