Seven years after its debut in 2000, the seventh annual Expo Hightex was held at Montreal's Palais des Congrès last Wednesday, October 10th, and Thursday, the 11th. Mr. Rob Kellock, President of Stedfast, and Chairman of the Expo-Hightex 2007 organizing committee, announced the following objectives: • The opportunity to forge new business relationships through our vast program. • And: “Thanks to our exhibitors, who come from every value-added textile sector, the whole value chain is represented, providing access to the very best in materials, technology and innovations.
The aspirations of the organizing committee were achieved, and high-tech enthusiasts reaped the rewards. Expo-Hightex 2007 proved a resounding success. Overall, 572 people registered for Expo Hightex 2007 this year, a 13% increase from last year. Of these, 227 were textile buyers, some 40% of those registered, and a 43% jump from last year.
From a geographic point of view, registrants came mainly from Quebec (84%). The remainder came from Ontario (8%), the rest of Canada (2%), the U.S. (4%) and the rest of the world (2%).
