Horgen, Switzerland based Dow Fiber Solutions is bringing differentiated fibers and process improvements to the textile industry announced the global swimwear industry bringing in upward of $12.65 billion (EUR 10.33 billion) annually and the demand for a stretch product that resists chlorine degradation higher than ever, Dow Fiber Solutions is introducing its newest product - a revolutionary elastic fiber to the swim market. DOW XLA CP is the first-ever inherently Chlorine Proof stretch fiber. Products in swimsuit applications featuring DOW XLA CP will be showcased at the Lyon Mode City and Interfiliere show in Lyon, France, September 3 - 5, 2005.

DOW XLA CP is the only Chlorine Proof stretch fiber on the market today, and the world's first olefin-based stretch fiber that is naturally resistant to harsh chemicals, high heat and UV light. While other stretch offerings see deterioration after only 200-300 hours of exposure to chlorine, DOW XLA CP fiber has the inherent properties needed to resist harsh chemicals for more than 1,000 hours - or as longer than the majority, host fiber - providing the ultimate shape retention over time.

"Competitive swimmers often have to replace their swim suits every six to 10 competitions, and with the large and expanding number of recreational and competitive swimmers in the United States and Europe, there is growing demand for superior performance in a swimwear fiber," said Miller. "The performance benefits of DOW XLA CP fiber far exceed its competitors, which is why DOW XLA CP fiber's role in the swimwear category is so important."
