Moscow Public Prosecutor's Office gave reply to ALROSA

Russian diamond maker ALROSA Co Ltd informs its shareholders, partners, Russian and international investors that the Company has received an official response in connection with its request to the Moscow Public Prosecutor's Office for information on the results of the criminal investigation opened on May 13, 2005.
The response, in particular, states as follows: Criminal case No. 345751 opened on 13th May, 2005 by the Moscow Public Prosecutor's Office on the basis of investigation materials in respect of charges by G.V. Akopyan of the alleged crime as described in Par. 4 of Article 160 of the RF Criminal Code, was closed on 3d August, 2005 on the basis of Par. 1. of Article 24 of the RF Criminal Procedure Regulation Code, in the absence of the event of crime».
From the very beginning ALROSA announced that it was interested in an objective investigation into the allegations, that it was ready to provide all necessary information concerning the case.
The impartiality and professionalism of the investigators allowed for the detailed examination of all the circumstances pertaining to this case. As a consequence it was once again confirmed that ALROSA conducts its activities in strict compliance with the laws of the Russian federation.
ALROSA reserves the right to take action within the limits of the Russian laws to protect its business reputation and its shareholders' interests from any hostile attacks.
ALROSA Co Ltd is a closed-type joint-stock company, successor to the enterprises, organizations and divisions of the former YakutAlmaz Association, Committee for Precious Metals and Precious Gemstones (Gokhran of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation) and the Almazjuvelirexport Foreign Trade Association specialized in sorting, initial processing and supply of rough diamonds which were incorporated into the Company's structure.
