KPR Mill upgrades its production facilities

KPR Mill, a unified textile company based in Coimbatore, is undertaking an expansion program to double its existing capacity of yarn, fabric and garment production under phase one expansion.
The phase one expansion work is likely to get completed by the end of this year. It will involve construction of spinning and garment production facility at Arasur with one lakh spindle yarn making unit that will make the total reach 2.12 lakh spindles.
The unit is expected to produce 54,000 tons of yarn every year. Besides, a greenfield fabric processing facility at Perundurai with 23 tons per day capacity is also being worked upon. This will encompass an addition of 12 wind mills of 19.8 MW capacities and will further modernize its existing spinning mill at Sathyamangalam. The expansion will contribute to increasing its fabric production from 17,200 tons and its garment production to 37.9 million pieces per annum.
The company has also started its second phase expansion plan. In an exclusive interview with Fibre2fashion, Mr P Nataraj, Managing Director of KPR Mills, disclosed saying, “The total investment for expansion of the first phase will amount to Rs517 crore while the second phase will cost an additional Rs120 crore.”
The second phase of expansion will essentially include elaboration the Arasur garment unit by balancing machinery and further a construction of hostel for workers to facilitate double shift operation from the year 2009. This will increase the apparel production of the unit from 25 million pieces to 51.8 million pieces.
