Solar hot water project for dyeing industry

The first ever solar hot water project for printing and dyeing industry of China was, recently, put into operation by Jialida Textile Co Ltd , in Foshan City, Sanshui. This is already showing good results in energy consumption.

In production processes of printing and dyeing, sizing and finishing, textile enterprises consume a large amount of hot water. They generally prepare high-temperature steam by coal burning boiler, then directly heat tap water up to 80-100 degree celsius by using high-temperature steam.

However, now, Jialida Textile first heats tap water to around 60 degree celsius by using solar energy. Then the temperature of water is raised to required level by using high-temperature steam. In doing so, they save steam and coal as well as reduce emission of pollutants.

Jialida started this project in 2006. The first phase of the construction was 3,000 square meters of solar water heating systems, with 300 tons of daily hot water supply.

Company officials said, after the operation of the first phase of solar energy project, the company reduces 3,420 tons of coal and 20,000 tons of steam consumption every year, and saves about 3.6 million yuan from steam consumption.

Total investment of the first phase of technological transformation project was 14.77 million yuan. The project cost is expected to be recovered in about three years. According to their capacity expansion needs, the company plans to build another 3,000 square meters of solar water heating systems.
