Qapco signs ethylene supply contract with Marubeni Corp

Qatar Petrochemical Company has recently signed a sale contract with Marubeni Corporation of Japan to sell a portion of its surplus ethylene. The contract's value is USD 35,000,000 (almost QR 126,000,000).
Dr. Mohd Yousef Al-Mulla, GM of QAPCO expressed: Qapco's delight to be in partnership with Marubeni Corporation for the supply of ethylene, and that QAPCO had shipped in 2008 about 35% of its ethylene to various end-users in Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Venezuela through Marubeni.
Marubeni Corporation is a Japanese trading house which has total 115 corporate offices and 248 divisional subsidiaries all over the world. They enjoy more than 25 years of experience in ethylene business, one of the pioneers in this field with strong customer base and logistic network around the globe.
Qatar remains one of the strategically important countries for Marubeni for trading Petroleum and Petrochemical products. Beside its trading business, Marubeni has its strong presence in Qatar through participation in other projects such as Qatargas1, Mesaieed Power Company, Cable installation project, Sewage infrastructure project etc.
Since its inception, QAPCO has established solid and strong business relationships with its customers in general, and Asia in particular. Now QAPCO exports more than 200,000 Mt of its Lotrene brand of LDPE to all the Asian countries in the Far East, South East Asia and the Indian Sub-Continent.
With the completion of the Ethylene expansion project, QAPCO has become the important supplier of ethylene as a feedstock to the Asian Petrochemical industry. This region has been very attractive to all the major plastics producers. QAPCO enjoys a long presence in the region which has helped us build strong and loyal customer base.
