The Mixed Hockey Club(MHC)in Ede(NL) now boasts the very latest synthetic turf system for hockey, called the Triple-T System (Taeke Taekema Turf System). This water-based pitch combines optimum playing characteristics with maximum durability as a result of 40 percent lower water usage than traditional water-based pitches. The Dutch women's hockey team will play a friendly international against Scotland on MHC Ede's Triple-T System at 3.00 pm on Sunday, 21 June 2009.

The development of the Triple-T System is geared entirely to optimum player comfort, in combination with high ball speed and low friction, regardless of conditions, whether wet or dry. This is made possible by a stable and extremely dense fibre structure.

The Triple T-System consists of more than one million synthetic turf fibres per square metre, a special shock-absorbent substratum and an automatic sprinkler installation. Thanks to its construction and fibre density, the pitch 'consumes' between just 6 and 8 m3 of water each match. This represents a saving of approximately 40 percent compared with traditional water-based pitches. The Triple-T System is made on the basis of a fibre that was specially developed for it.

Taeke Taekema
The name Taeke Taekema Turf System refers to the Dutch hockey icon Taeke Taekema.'The Triple T-System is by far the best pitch that I've ever played on', says Taeke Taekema. The unique fibre offers optimal ball control and high ball speed. This is what makes these new pitches so exceptional.

Joint development
The Triple T-System is a joint development by Edel Grass, Oranjewoud Sport and TenCate Grass. The partners' intention with this new system is to raise the sport of hockey to an even higher level. Commercial Director Bas van den Berg of Edel Grass is enthusiastic: “The Triple T-System is unique on a great many points compared with traditional water-based pitches. This makes the Triple-T System the synthetic turf pitch to improve the standard of the sport. That is precisely why we asked international hockey player Taeke Taekema to lend his name to this unique hockey pitch. The water-based pitch will help to improve the level of the entire sport of hockey, because both top-flight sport and recreational sport can now play the game under the same top conditions. MHC Ede is the first club to have this innovation and I expect more top clubs and recreational clubs to follow soon.”
