MRC outsources SOLUNA yarn production

Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd.(MRC) and its subsidiary Mitsubishi Rayon Textile Co., Ltd.(MTX) hereby announce that production of the polyester filament yarn SOLUNA, which has hitherto been carried out by MRC at Toyohashi Production Center, is to be outsourced in entirety to companies in the Unitika Group. The companies involved are Unitika Ltd., Unitika Fibers Ltd., and Nippon-Ester Co., Ltd. Details of an agreement to this effect recently signed between MRC and MTX and the Unitika Group are given below.

Substance of agreement
1. MRC and MTX entrust the production of SOLUNA yarn to the Unitika Group.
2. In the Unitika Group, the production of SOLUNA polyester filament yarn will be carried out by Nippon-Ester Co., Ltd. of Okazaki, Aichi Prefecture.

Schedule
1. October 2009: Production on consignment to commence
2. By the end of March 2010: Production of SOLUNA polyester filament yarn at MRC's Toyohashi Production Center to be terminated

Other matters
- The sale of SOLUNA in yarn or textile form will continue to be carried out by MTX after the commencement of consigned production.
- MRC will continue to conduct research and development on SOLUNA yarn.
