“We are proud to be able to give concrete proof that the textile sector, quite apart from being a long established one is, on the contrary, able to offer plans and clear cut proposals for ample future development. In this context the collaboration with other areas in industry such as naval dockyards is important”. Thus spoke the president of the Unione Industriale Biellese and of the Fondazione Biella The Art of Excellence, Luciano Donatelli at the opening ceremony of the 32nd edition of FILO, the exhibition of yarns for clothing and furnishing wovens, which takes place on 14th and 15th October at the Stelline Congress Centre in Milan.

The speakers have studied the central opening theme in depth, illustrating the “Navaltex” project and emphasizing the added value which can, on several levels, create investment in Made in Italy, excellence and Italian taste. “Only through continuous innovation it is possible to remain competitive in the world market – affirms Ugo Salerno, Managing Director of Rina spa (the Italian naval register) – and the very good results obtained to date by the Navaltex project are the proof that the strategy of sharing know-how is a winning one”.

Stefano Pagani, manager of the technical research department of Ucina (the National Union of dockyards and nautical industry and similar)) added: “We have met the challenge of becoming, thanks to Navaltex, innovation stimulators: it is an experiment which has highlighted the potential for the future of the nautical industry as an end user of innovative textile products”. The research and strategy director of Fincantieri, Piercipriano Rollo, underlines the role that the large company plays in stimulating and leading innovation in the supply chain, while Mauro Rossetti, director of the Tessile e Salute association, emphasizes the research studies carried out in the Biellese laboratories aimed at checking the healthiness of the textiles used.

At the end of the opening ceremony, among the novelties proposed in the stands of the 86 exhibitors of FILO, stands out the trend area originally fitted out by twelve students from the Nuova Accademia delle Belle Arti in Milano (Naba), which created a “picture” inspired by the product proposals of the fair, the reportage. The students of the Nava fashion department also propose four vintage clothes which live a new and modern splendour thanks to the creativity of these young talents.

Like in the past edition, the driving enthusiasm of FILO for fashion is reasserted: concurrently with the exhibition opens the Comitato Moda of Sistema Moda Italia.
