Eastern Silk Industries Limited (ESIL) registered 28.6 increase in net profit for the quarter ended September 30. ESIL, a leading exporter of silk fabrics, has made profit of Rs 10.40 crore against Rs 8.08 in the same quarter last year.

Company official said that net sales during the quarter ended September 30 went up to Rs 92.92 crore from Rs 90.93 crore as compared to the same quarter last year.

During the first six months of this financial year, the net profit has displayed a notable increase of 46 percent at Rs 18.75 crore, while sales ascended by 15 percent and reached Rs 179.57 crore during the corresponding period.

The better margin was the direct outcome of higher value addition and growing share of machine-made fabrics in the company's production, ESIL chairman S S Saha commented on results.

Answering to Rs 100 crore current growth-cum-integration agenda of ESIL, Mr Saha said the company is strengthening its fabric production at its Anekal plant.

From the current yearly production of 7.5 lakh metres, company proposes to take this figure to 5 lakh metres in the first phase and 12 lakh metres in the second phase.
