DiloSpinnbau Carding Systems for hydroentangled products

The need for hydroentagled lightweight products in the medical and hygiene sectors is still fast growing especially in Asia where the Chinese market plays a major role. The carding systems of DiloSpinnbau for web forming in wide working widths are intended for high web speeds as they are used as direct cards. They have been accepted in the market as a standard for highest productivity. For this reason, DiloSpinnbau has been able to sell four carding installations of this type to well-known producers in working widths from 3.7 to 5.1 m within the last few months.

The special characteristics of the DiloSpinnbau carding systems consisting mainly of two, but sometimes three cards, depend on numerous technical features which create the basis for very high productivity, high web homogeneity and ease of operation and maintenance. This results in high availability and high production efficiency which are prerequisites for the good economics of the web forming process which usually precedes installations made by Fleissner or Perfojet. Web speeds have been steadily increased in recent years and for this reason more rollers made of carbon fibre reinforced composite material are used in DiloSpinnbau cards to eliminate vibrations and keep the roll gap consistent over the whole working width.

Other important criteria for this carding technology are an even web structure, the surface quality and the area weight distribution in machine and cross directions.

Spinnbau being the inventor of random roller card technology takes advantage of decades of experience with random and condenser rolls in card doffing systems. This results not only in throughputs of more than 400 kg/m of working width per hour with fine fibres, but also in a fibre orientation to give the desired cross strength.

The basis for good quality and high throughput however is already laid in fibre preparation during opening and blending where the components of DiloTemafa make an important contribution. Also in this area development work has allowed an increase in throughput whilst preserving the accuracy and consistency of fibre mass flow e.g. in the preparation and the Baltromix system. This allows high throughput and also high weighing precision due to modern pan scale systems. The opening degree of the fibre flocks determines the throughput and evenness of card feeding. An optimum degree of opening can be created by using a carding willow and fine opening steps which fix the size of the fibre flocks. For this reason, the new dosing opener DON made by DiloTemafa is installed directly in front of the card feeder.

Dosing opener and card feeder are one consistent, interacting system in terms of control engineering. This is the only way to realize a continuously homogeneous fibre flow which is so important for the constant dosing of the card feeder.
