Cotlook A tests seasons new high's

The Cotton Cotlook A Index which had scraped bottoms in the previous cotton year is once again witnessing a resurgence of sorts in the ongoing cotton season. Since the beginning of the new cotton season in October, the index has grown from 66.75 cents per pound to 79.20 cents per pound on February 10, up 18.65 percent.

Though off course for two fortnights, beginning from December 16 to January 15, the Cotlook A index for that brief period tested waters above 78 cents per pound, but once gain fell back to 75.78 cents per pound in the last week of January to once again cross new levels in February, not attained till date in this season.

Considering the average prices for each consecutive month, in October it stood at 66.75 cents per pound, in November it rose to 71.65 cents per pound, in December it once again grew to 76.87 cents per pound, in January it moved marginally to 77.39 cents per pound and now has catapulted to 79.20 cents per pound on February 10.
