Video eyewear producer Kopin Corporation announced that the Company's joint venture, KoBrite Corporation, celebrated the grand opening of its new three-building campus in Dongguan, China. Many dignitaries, including high-level Chinese government officials, attended the grand opening of KoBrite, which will manufacture gallium nitride light emitting diode chips.
KoBrite Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sandy Liaw stated that they are excited to have an opening ceremony only nine months after signing the joint venture agreement.
They appreciate the hard work of Kopin's management team and engineers as well as the KoBrite employees who helped make this happen so quickly. Located about an hour's drive from Hong Kong, the KoBrite campus is comprised of a manufacturing plant with a 20,000-square-foot clean room, an office building and a dormitory.
Kopin President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. John C. C. Fan informed that they are very pleased that the equipment transfer and facility construction has gone so smoothly.
The low cost structure of manufacturing in China, the proximity to huge and rapidly expanding markets, local management expertise, and state-of-the-art technology should bode very well for the future of KoBrite.
