Lenzing to raise textile & nonwoven fibers prices

Man-made cellulose fiber producer Lenzing AG is going to increase fiber prices by at least five percent at the beginning of the first quarter 2006. The exact price increases will depend on the fiber type. The new prices apply to textile and nonwoven fibers.

This further rise of fiber prices is necessary due to the steady price increase of raw materials and rising energy costs at all Lenzing production sites during the past weeks.

The exorbitant hike of costs for raw materials and energy cannot be compensated by the price increases that are being implemented by Lenzing in the fourth quarter 2005 so that this further fiber price increase is necessary.

Upper Austria based leading textile fiber maker The Lenzing Group is an international corporate group with headquarters in Upper Austria. The company focus is on quality and innovation in the field of man-made cellulose fibers.

The fibers - viscose, lyocell and modal - are produced from the renewable resource wood. They are used in the textile industry (in fashion and for domestic and technical fabrics), as well as in the nonwovens industry (for personal care, medical and cosmetics products.
