Soft PVC protects coated textiles against fungi, yeasts

Everyone knows the problem: After being used for a while, shower curtains, floors or gymnastic mats develop stains, and often the surfaces become slimy. The cause of this is colonization by fungi and yeasts. The next step usually is material wear resulting in premature material fatigue. There are further negative effects for workwear and gloves in particular: wearing comfort decreases and “pink stain” changes the appearance - and not for the better. Soft PVC products face even greater challenges during outdoor use. Due to the constant climatic changes, coated textiles, artificial leather and tarpaulins also suffer the consequences of a fungal infestation.

Many available treatments on the market are accompanied by significant drawbacks and risks, among them the controversial, arsenic-containing active ingredient OBPA.

The recently developed Sanitized PL 24-32 combines a reliable protective function against fungal and yeast infestation for soft PVC with user safety – for both adults and children. For Sanitized PL 24-32 meets the OEKO-TEX standard, classes I to IV. It is the first product on the market that offers optimal material and hygiene protection and, in addition, is safe for humans and the environment. Furthermore, the Sanitized product is phtalate-free and during testing has shown convincing proof of good UV and heat resistance (unlike the active ingredient DCOIT). The development of “pink stain” is prevented. For Sanitized PL 24-32 is also effective against streptoverticillia, which causes these unpopular stains.

As Dr. Bruno Piastra, the SANITIZED product manager, explains: “The new Sanitized PL 24-32 is the ideal protection against yeast and fungal infestations, particularly for soft PVC manufacturers that are trying to achieve OEKO-TEX certification for their product.”
