Peter Thomas joins Feltex Carpets, CEO

Leading carpet maker Feltex Carpets Limited has appointed Peter Thomas as its new Chief Executive Officer, Chairman Tim Saunders said.

Peter Thomas has been a Director of Feltex since 1997 and has been the Company's Executive Director since the previous Chief Executive Officer stepped down in August 2005.

“The Board is delighted with Peter's appointment and are very pleased that he will be leading the Company into the future,” Tim Saunders said.

“Peter's appointment follows an extensive international search for a Chief Executive Officer. The Board engaged Korn Ferry, a leading international executive recruitment company, to undertake the search.

“Given the challenges Feltex faces, which became more apparent and clear during the process, there is immense value in appointing an individual who understands the immediate issues facing Feltex and what needs to be done to overcome them.

“Peter has a detailed knowledge of the business from his nine years as a Board member. Over the past three months as the Company's Executive Director, he has set about identifying the underlying issues in the Company and planning and implementing corrective action. The external advisers and the Board were very impressed with Peter's management experience, his strategic ability and his strong vision for the Company's future.”

Peter Thomas said he will take up the appointment immediately.

“There are some important reasons why I decided to discuss my potential candidacy with the Board. My long association with Feltex has left me in no doubt that it is a fundamentally sound company. Sitting behind the current challenges is a great Company which manufactures world class products,” said Peter Thomas.
