Intertek, the leading provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries, is providing a single-source solution for meeting the registration, testing, safety assessment, and legal requirements of the EU REACH Regulation.

The European Union's REACH (Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization of Chemicals) Regulation's first phase deadline of December 1, 2010 is fast approaching. By this date, manufacturers in and importers of substances into the EU are obliged to register with the ECHA, the European Chemicals Agency. Substances covered are phase-in substances produced or imported with volumes of over 1,000 tonnes/year and substances that are designated as high risk, i.e. CMR and toxic substances (R50/53) with volumes of over 1 tonne/year.

The next wave of registration is to be concluded before June 2013, during which phase-in substances produced or imported with volumes between 100-1000 tonnes have to be registered. Companies must meet all their obligations under the REACH Regulation to ensure business continuity and must act quickly to meet the REACH registration deadlines and requirements in order to keep their products in the EU market.

Intertek's REACH registration services portfolio includes full support for each of the requirements of REACH. Intertek can provide element-specific support for any stage of REACH registration including: communication with the supply chain, exposure scenarios definition, toxicology risk assessments, technical dossier preparation, Chemical Safety Assessments (CSA), Chemical Safety Reports (CSR), REACH testing, Only Representation, Substance Information Exchange Fora (SIEF) and Consortia communication, overall REACH project management and implementation, and ultimately Registration.

”Not only is timing critical with respect to meeting the challenges under REACH, it is also crucial for businesses continuity,” states Dr. Ruud Overbeek, Vice President of Intertek's Health and Environment Services “Intertek continuously supports companies to meet these deadlines through effective and efficient solutions”.
