Sinopec Yangtse to add PTA capacity

Currently operating two plants, and China's leading manufacturer of PTA & MEG, Sinopec Yangtse Petrochemical Co Ltd has indicated plans to enhance PTA production capacity to 1.3 million metric tons per annum up from 350 kilo ton per annum by third quarter end next year, sources said.
Further, a new PTA production will go on stream by May next year boosting the existing capacity by another 600 kilo ton per annum with its PX capacity also getting hiked to 800 kilo tons per annum.
Sinopec Yangtse Petrochemical Co., Ltd. mainly supplies petrochemical products bulk domestic consumers like Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fibre Corporation Ltd.
Meanwhile, a plant shutdown has been ordered at South Korean KP Chemical Corporation necessitated out of mechanical failure disrupting PTA dispatches till the end December. Sources said this 350 kilo ton per annum PTA maker expects a week long repairs to rectify the defect.
Consequent to this shutdown, PTA prices on spot terms may rally upwards, opined sources.
