Pakistan seeks Japan help for textile sector through PTAs

Pakistani minister of state for finance Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan has sought assistance from Japan to promote the country’s textile sector through preferential trade agreements (PTAs). During a meeting with Japanese ambassador Takashi Kurai, Khan said Japan can also invest in tourism, processing and packaging of sea food, and halaal food sectors in Pakistan.

Japan can invest in these sectors and bring in technology and sanitary and phytosanitary standards, Pakistani media reports quoted Khan as saying.

Kurai said Japan has planned to support Pakistan in export promotion, improvement of security through the provision of security equipment at the airports and diversification of automobile industry. (DS)
