The new base near Stryamy is intended for non-food products and will employ nearly 100 people, told the company to local Bulgarian media. It is based on the latest environmental standards and uses innovative technologies. Since its opening in 2005, the company has already invested more than BGN 233 million ($133.47 million) in the logistics complex. The center serves all of 59 Kaufland hypermarkets in Bulgaria and employs a team of 600 employees in the two bases (with 100 in the new base).
“The company is a loyal partner of the Bulgarian producers and shows that Bulgaria is becoming an increasingly attractive investment destination,” said Emil Karanikov, minister of economy, Bulgaria, during the opening of the base.
“The logistics center is the largest in Bulgaria and one of the largest on the Balkan Peninsula and is world-class,” said Ivan Chernev, president of the board of Kaufland Bulgaria. “For years to be in such a dynamic sector as modern trade, hard work is required. We do not cease to develop to be the best place to shop and work in Bulgaria.”
This year, Kaufland is planning to continue with the modernisation of its facilities throughout Bulgaria, while in the meantime also working on the construction of the fifth hypermarket in Varna. (PC)
