In a pursuit to empower trading community to get on with the Goods and Services Tax (GST) taxation system and with an aim to make 10,000 traders across the country as Master Trainers, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) began its Mission GST. It held its first Train the Trainer Conference in New Delhi for trade leaders from North Indian states.

About 300 leading trade leaders from Delhi, UP, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh attended the conference. These trade leaders in turn will train more traders as Master Trainers in their respective states.

Train the Trainer programme will include imparting knowledge on GST fundamentals, role of technology for easy compliance, linkage and importance of digital payments with GST and need for upgradation of existing business format of retail trade of India.

"Train The Trainers workshops assume significance in the wake of fast approaching deadline of GST implementation. The Master Trainers prepared by us will surely leverage their knowledge and expertise and raise awareness about the nitty-gritty of the new law, besides making the trading community skilled enough to take on all the emerging challenges. We at CAIT stand committed to extend our support to the trading community in solving all the issues faced by them," said Praveen Khandelwal, secretary general, CAIT.

Further Train the Trainer programme will be held in Central India Zone on June 9, Eastern India on June 15 in Kolkata, South India Zone on June 20 in Bangalore and Western India Zonal Conference will be held in Mumbai on June 25. CAIT has chosen Tally Solutions Limited, Mastercard and HDFC Bank as its technology partners for Mission GST, said the association in a statement.

During its Mission GST campaign, CAIT along with trade associations across the country will hold massive outreach with traders through conferences, seminars, workshops etc. on GST and digital payments. They will also held market camps and shop to shop tour for adoption of GST and digital payments. (KD)
