Zhenhai invests 22bn yuan in new ethylene project

A new ethylene project has been commenced by Zhenhai Petroleum Refinery and Chemistry Corporation, which is part of the China Petroleum Chemistry Company.
Corporation has invested 22 billion yuan in this project and on completion it will have an ethylene production capacity of a million tons per year.
Ethylene is extracted from petroleum and natural gas. It is utilized in production of various chemicals.
Zhenhai's total crude oil manufacturing capacity will amount to nearly 20 million tons per year by 2006 ending.
