Kindy cites Centric 8 PLM ease of use, applicability to apparel industry

Kindy SA, the French manufacturer and distributor of socks and children's shoes, has selected Centric Software, Inc., to provide its product lifecycle management (PLM) system.
The company has purchased Centric 8's Line Planning, Product Specification, Materials Management, Sourcing and Calendar Management modules. Kindy will use the Centric 8 PLM suite to accelerate new product introduction and increase the efficiency of product development.
“Centric's strong apparel-industry expertise and experience were key elements in our choice,” says Nathalie Seguinot, Kindy's CIO. “We were looking for a solution that would help us improve process productivity and reliability, and that would facilitate communication within internal and external functions as well as with suppliers,” she continued. “We expect the implementation of Centric 8 will also contribute to shortening new-product launch lead times, a critical part of the very competitive sock business.”
The custom system Kindy has used to date could no longer keep up with the company's evolution and the introduction of new, technical product lines that feature complex construction processes, explains Stefano Lena, Centric's vice president of global sales and European general manager. In addition, with a steadily growing amount of data to track and work with, the product development teams had to dedicate a large portion of their time to administrative tasks. Frequent need to manually re-key data increased the risk of duplications and errors.
Kindy's management concluded that a comprehensive PLM system was its best solution, according to Lena. The company selected Centric after a thorough selection process, citing Centric 8's focus on the needs of the apparel industry and deep understanding of the business. The company also appreciated the suite's advanced functionality, and ability to integrate industry best practices in a 100 percent web-based application with user-friendly interface.
