Fakir Fashion Ltd, Narayanganj, Bangladesh installed the SewEasy Actual SMV Calculation System recently. In addition to software, Fakir Fashion Ltd. will increase the use of Industrial Engineering (IE) methodology in their sewing room management. This IE project is intended to contribute to increase international competitiveness in the textile and clothing sector. Keerthi Abe of SewEasy, Sri Lanka provided training on implementation to the users, as per requirements set by Mr. Hemantha Kumara, General Manager.

'FAKIR' is the family title with the founder of the group been late Mr. Yusuf Ali Fakir. He started his business in the mid of nineteenth century as a local textile manufacturer and had investments in Jute, Dyes and Chemical industries. The five sons of Mr. Yusuf Ali Fakir had a jointly operated company in the 1970s and that was gradually developed to a garment exporting company in 1988 with 4 sewing lines.

Now the company is a fully compliant composite knit industry with over 200 lines and plans are being made for a major expansion in 2013. “Fakir Fashion” is well known for best quality they maintain in export of garment of Bangladesh over a long period of time. The company has delivered products to best international brand names and global players such as H&M, C&A, Tom Tailor, Mexx, and Gina Tricot among others.

SewEasy Pvt. Ltd. is serving large & medium garment producers in emerging markets, to benefit from productivity improvement and cost reduction techniques. They specialize in blending the IE with Six-Sigma, Lean and Toyota concepts for setting competitive direction for enterprises based in Asia, Africa, Europe and Oceania. Quick training of existing IE team and rapid rollout are hallmarks of SewEasy strategy.

Users of the SewEasy Actual SMV Calculation system benefit from the apparel industry best practices, gain visibility, establish KPI, achieve benchmarks, increase profits and promote industrial harmony. As SewEasy “automates” the industrial engineering (work study) functions, the labor content and costs are immediately available for marketing and professional line planning. With the SewEasy doing the IE work, the management team can apply more time and effort towards optimizing in-house “workflow”, the balancing of lines, enabling workforce and thereby improving efficiency. The SewEasy PMTS system serves factories since 1996, and is based on MTM.
