Metail, the British company developing online fitting room technology that allows users to try on clothes on an accurate 3D model of themselves, this month launches its latest product, focused on ‘outfitting’, with popular High Street brand Warehouse.

The new offering gives consumers the opportunity to create entire outfits on their MeModel (a personalised 3D model), eliminating size, shape and fit uncertainty. The exciting new product will be available on Warehouse’s e-commerce site in September 2013.

The ‘outfitting’ solution sees Metail’s partnership with fashion-forward Warehouse move to the next level, in the world of online fitting room technology.

Consumers will now see their MeModel at the side of the browser page (now appearing on both category and product pages) allowing them to peruse the Warehouse website as they normally would, but with the ability to try clothes on as they go.

The new ‘outfitting’ feature ensures the ‘trying on’ process is quicker, easier and crucially, allows the consumer to piece together multiple garments from different categories, as a customer would do in a physical fitting room instore. It also allows the consumer to ‘buy the complete outfit’ straight into their online shopping basket.

For the MeModel, with just a few simple measurements, users can create an accurate 3D representation of their individual body shape. Adding further personalisation, the newly upgraded Metail offering allows consumers to edit skin tone, face shape, hair colour, and hairstyle.

Fiona Harrison, Head of Digital, Warehouse comments, “At Warehouse we like to introduce innovative ideas to improve the customer’s experience of our site. The fitting room app from Metail has offered our customers the chance to try on before they buy and their feedback has been really positive. We were keen to take this to the next level of outfitting as we know our customers like to style themselves and layer up – especially in the autumn/winter season.

"The introduction of outfitting not only allows customers to style themselves as if they were in a fitting room, but also make sure the size they are choosing is correct. This is part of our on-going strategy to offer customers innovative and problem solving features in the digital space”.

Katie Evans, Head of Account Management at Metail, explains, “Our goal is to make the MeModel product as easy as possible for any consumer to use, whilst at the same time growing and pushing the capabilities of the online fitting room. By changing the way consumers see their MeModel, so it’s now at the side of the page as they scroll through the garments, makes it more accessible and we believe, has really rejuvenated the whole product. We’re always looking for ways to push forward and innovate, and outfitting was the next logical step.”
