RFID maker Alien Technology names Weijie Yun as CEO

Alien Technology, an industry leader in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Ultra High Frequency (UHF) products and services, announced that the company's Board of Directors has appointed Weijie Yun as Chief Executive Officer.

Dr. Yun has been an active, independent member of Alien's Board of Directors. He will now drive the company's strategy for growth, expand the product portfolio and increase the company's leadership position as the RFID market accelerates.

"Weijie's strategic vision and leadership are ideal to drive innovation and market leadership for Alien," said Duane Zitzner, chairman of the Alien Technology Board of Directors. "Weijie comes with a wealth of entrepreneurial experience, an excellent track record of growing technology companies and demonstrated skills in organizational development." Dr. Yun replaces Peter Green, who has left the company to pursue other opportunities.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to take Alien to the next level of success from the solid foundation that exists today," said Dr. Yun. "With the maturing of the RFID ecosystem, the market is poised to enjoy explosive growth, and I look forward to driving strategic direction and organizational readiness for the company to fully exploit this worldwide market growth."

Dr. Yun is a serial entrepreneur. He was the founding CEO of Telegent Systems where he led the company to create the mobile television market worldwide. As a result, he was recognized as the 2008 Northern California Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young. Prior to Telegent, he was the founding president and CEO of AIP Networks and a founder and director of SiTek, Inc. He also led marketing and product management at Berkana Wireless.

Dr. Yun serves as a board member for several technology companies in the Silicon Valley. He holds a master's of science and doctorate degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
