For the second straight year, Tyco Retail Solutions, a leading global provider of retail performance and security solutions, has won the annual Supply & Demand Chain Executive Green Supply Chain Award. Now in its sixth year, the awards honor leading enterprises that leverage “green” practices and solutions to further drive sustainable improvements in their supply chain.

Retailers around the world are focused on providing shoppers with green facilities that are inviting, safe and secure. With that goal in mind, Tyco Retail Solutions is continually improving product design and corresponding manufacturing and supply chain practices to deliver environmentally responsible in-store systems backed by global processes that cut waste and promote sustainability. Notable green initiatives include:

A companywide Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program comprised of dedicated leadership teams that design and implement energy saving campaigns to reduce hazardous waste, greenhouse gases, and water consumption in their respective regions;

An innovative genuine Sensormatic source tagging recirculation program for retailers which allows hard tags to be applied at the source of manufacture, removed at the store, and then processed and returned for reapplication by garment manufacturers;

The creation of “Energy Commissions” at our state-of-the-art global manufacturing facilities which feature initiatives designed to encourage employee participation such as tree planting and recycling contests.

“Leading companies recognize that initiating sustainable practices in their supply chain processes is key towards driving their competitive edge in today’s economy,” said Barry Hochfelder, Editor, Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “This has been increasingly evident over the past few years and is relatively clear with the increased number of entries we received this year for our annual green awards. The adoption of green best practices and strategies will only continue to grow.”

Utilizing renewable energy, minimizing waste and maximizing facility and solutions lifespan are all components that leading companies increasingly enforce. This year’s Green Supply Chain Awards recognize the businesses that are not only implementing "green" practices, but also making sustainability a core component of their supply chain strategy.

“At Tyco we are committed to finding ways to save natural resources and reduce our overall environmental footprint, while delivering products that allow retailers to meet their own sustainability goals,” said Nancy Chisholm, Vice President and General Manager of Tyco Retail Solutions. “We are honored to be recognized by Supply & Demand Chain Executive for our efforts and will continue to incorporate environmental initiatives into our business practices across our organization.”
