Lectra partners Ragtrade Atlanta to promote fashion
Aug '14
Lectra, a software technology provider to the textile and apparel sector has collaborated with Ragtrade Atlanta, to nurture the economic development of the region's fashion, design and retail communities.

Ragtrade Atlanta was created with an aim to develop a vibrant and globally recognized fashion Atlanta city community.

The organization promotes fresh and independent designers globally by providing a space to showcase their designs to buyers, editors, retailers and key influencers in the fashion community.

Ragtrade Atlanta is hosting the city's first full day of high-end runway shows featuring some of the Southeast's top emerging designers, a style lounge, press events and after-parties on August 23.

Amongst the emerging designers, graduating students from local Bauder College will also be showcasing their designs, vying for one of three honors.

"The Lectra Industry Portfolio Award will provide the winning portfolio design student with a one-year license for our advanced design solution," says Roy Shurling, President of Lectra North America.

Bauder College is one of more than 850 schools and universities in 60 countries within Lectra's Education Partnership Program.

Through this program, Lectra ensures that the partner institutions have the same technology used in the professional fashion and apparel world, to help adequately prepare their students.

"Our solutions, which address the entire fashion development cycle from design to production, have been adopted by many fashion and apparel companies around the world, and we aim to bring this knowledge to Atlanta", Roy Shurling adds.

Lectra develops the most advanced specialized software and cutting systems and provides associated services to a broad array of markets including fashion, automotive (car seats and interiors, airbags) and other sectors.
