Lankan apparel exporter to deploy VMware's cloud strategy

Brandix Group, a Sri Lankan apparel exporter for global brands, has installed the virtualization and cloud infrastructure technology by VMware Inc, one of the industry-leading providers for virtualization software and cloud infrastructure in the US.
The cloud strategy and virtualization software will help Brandix Group reduce capital and operational costs annually, while reducing the time for deployment of IT related services from weeks to minutes.
Brandix Group, also a leading apparel solutions provider, has become the first company to sign an Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) with VMware Inc in Sri Lanka.
Brandix Group will also implement additional licenses of VMware vSphere for growing its virtualization environment, and VMware vCenterTM Site Recovery Manager for disaster recovery, said VMware in a statement.
VMware partner, KBSL Information Technologies Ltd (KBSL), a leading enterprise systems integrator in Sri Lanka, has helped in this deployment project.
The head of the Information and Communication technology, Brandix Group, Manoj Pilimatalawwe said that Brandix Group has identified IT as a key enabler of the business.
The director of sales (India), VMware Inc, Sangeeta Giri, said the globally competitive apparel industry in Sri Lanka requires organizations like Brandix to be agile and able to quickly respond to changing market dynamics globally, while saving costs and meeting business objectives.
Brandix Group first partnered with VMware Inc to virtualize its infrastructure over five years ago, and they have seen a sharp reduction in the total cost of delivering IT services in the organization. It has also found that the services are now much more reliable with the high availability options offered by virtualization. The time taken to deploy infrastructure has also been reduced, and the administration processes are now much simplified.
The Brandix Group employs more than 47,000 people at manufacturing facilities in Sri Lanka, a 1,000-acre industrial park in India, and a large operation in Bangladesh.
