Integrated solutions provider for the apparel and industrial markets, Gerber Technology has named Karsten Newbury as vice president and general manager, Software Solutions.

Gerber said, Newbury’s background leading management teams in software systems and solutions, allows Gerber to strengthen the integration of its existing solutions while continuing the development of new offerings for their customers in a broad range of industries.

Prior to this, Newbury was senior vice president and general manager for Siemens PLM Software’s Mainstream Engineering business, and led the company’s global go-to-market and software development efforts.

The Mainstream Engineering business was an incubator for new business models, which afforded Newbury a strong history in building winning teams with leading business performance.

Newbury also served as Vice President, Integration, with Siemens, leading the $3.7 billion acquisition of UGS, now Siemens PLM Software.

Newbury holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany, with a dual major in computer integrated manufacturing and business administration.

“We are thrilled to bring someone of Karsten’s capabilities to the Gerber team,” said Mike Ella, president and CEO of Gerber.

He added, “Karsten’s understanding of the integrated marketplace, combined with his global vision for software systems and solutions, will enable him to draw upon all our technologies and applications and solve many of the workflow challenges our customers face. “

“I have been fortunate to experience the power of customer-driven software innovations and am looking forward to contributing that experience to what Gerber has already accomplished and also what they have planned for the future,” Newbury said.

Gerber Technology serves 25,000 customers, including more than 100 Fortune 500 companies, in the aerospace, apparel, retail, composites, packaging, furniture, technical textiles and transportation interiors industries in 130 countries.

Gerber was the first to introduce CAD Pattern Making Software for the apparel industry. Today, its AccuMark CAD systems are used by over 14,000 customers to create apparel, furniture and transportation interiors.

Based in Connecticut, USA, Gerber Technology is owned by Vector Capital, a San Francisco-based, global private equity firm specializing in the technology sector that manages more than $2 billion of equity capital. (AR)
