Lawson Software announced the appointment of Craig Bickel as senior vice president and chief information officer. Bickel will join Lawson on June 2, 2008.

In his new role with Lawson, he will oversee the company's global information services organization and be responsible for developing and managing Lawson's technology strategy to support its worldwide operations in the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions.

Bickel brings more than 30 years of information technology experience to Lawson, including more than 20 years in senior management and executive positions. Before Lawson, Bickel was a director for AlixPartners LLP, a $500 million management consulting firm that specializes in corporate turnarounds and transitions.

Prior to AlixPartners, Bickel served as vice president and chief information officer for Cabot Corporation, a $2.7 billion specialty chemical manufacturer based in Boston, Mass. In these roles he led multiple business transformations and information services initiatives for global operations.

"Lawson is continuing to transform itself into a global business, opening new markets and operations in multiple countries," said Bickel.

"The company has set a solid foundation for this transformation, and I look forward to helping the company operate efficiently and effectively in multiple geographies. It's a great opportunity to put my experience to work."

"Craig has a proven track record and a keen understanding of the information systems challenges companies face as they expand operations into new geographies," said Harry Debes, president and chief executive officer for Lawson.

"Lawson is a truly global company and we continue to expand our business in the U.S. and in regions throughout the world. With Craig joining our executive team, we'll be able to focus on building a world-class global information systems organization."
