JDAS v7.5 improves ability to combat rising fuel & logistics costs
Oct '08
JDA Software Group Inc announced the latest release of JDA Transportation & Logistics Management (v7.5), a software solution suite designed to provide integrated enterprise transportation planning optimization and execution, including robust global optimization and visibility, shipment execution, contract administration, freight audit and payment, and performance management. JDA Software's comprehensive Transportation & Logistics Management suite provides an end-to-end transportation and optimization solution for over 300 successful customer implementations around the globe.

The solution is designed to help shippers and logistics providers more effectively manage the complexities of a global, multi-modal network – from strategic transportation sourcing, planning and optimization, through shipment visibility and performance analysis.

“To achieve the right blend of functionality and exceed expectations for usability and productivity for this solution upgrade, we tapped into the insights and expertise of our industry-leading manufacturing and retail customer base,” says David Johnston, senior vice president manufacturing and wholesale distribution at JDA Software. “The result is an enhanced array of features including unique navigation options, intelligent page formats and rich user workbenches that will help set the industry standard for usability and productivity.”

JDA Transportation & Logistics Management (v7.5) leverages a powerful enterprise platform – the JDA Enterprise Architecture - which includes JDA's secure, high-performance, scalable grid-computing architecture already deployed in other modular, yet integrated JDA solutions. This enhanced Transportation & Logistics Management suite blends the robustness of a client-server application, with rich user functionality allowing greater processing speed and remote accessibility, and is ideal for customers working in collaborative, distributed environments across multiple enterprises. Additionally, the Web-based platform reduces the cost and complexity of installation, eliminates the need for additional network bandwidth and provides ease of maintenance, without added cost or system downtime.

Advanced Transportation Solutions Help Keep Costs in Check in Tough Economic Conditions:
JDA's Transportation & Logistics Management solutions provide the visibility and agility to help companies control costs by streamlining freight management, shipment planning and execution, and carrier selection. Using a single multi-modal, multi-carrier transportation and logistics platform, logistics planners and managers can achieve a better balance of cost, asset utilization and customer service. A single monitoring and alerting environment across the enterprise allows adjustments to be made quickly and easily as today's economic conditions and fuel prices fluctuate.

“We have seen firsthand how the right transportation and logistics planning and execution solutions can drive bottom-line results in challenging economic times and assist companies as they reconsider their global strategies to offset rising fuel and logistics costs,” added Johnston. “In complex supply chain operations, process automation, enterprise-wide integration, and real-time information flow provided by advanced technology, software applications have become essential business tools.”

Rich User Interface Capabilities Enhance Workflow for all Users:
JDA's Transportation & Logistics Management (v7.5) offers an intelligent user interface that helps minimize training needs, thereby expediting and maximizing employee productivity. For example, a decision support engine dynamically manages light loads by graphically displaying the current utilization of the truck and makes recommendations on how the empty space can be optimally consumed.
